The next Sturgeon River Plains Bison Stewards' monthly meeting will be held at the Ladder Valley Hall on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 7pm. This meeting is open to the public. If you would like to attend, please email for more information.

Management Planning is Complete!

The development of the Sturgeon River Plains Bison Management Plan is complete, led by the Sturgeon River Plains Bison Stewards, Prince Albert National Park and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment. Bison Stewards On The Road!

The SRPBS welcome opportunities to share knowledge and present to interested parties. If you are interested in having a presentation from the SRPBS, please contact us for more details.

The SRPBS were pleased to have had the opportunity to attend and present at these past events.

  • Banff National Park and the Government of Alberta regarding a proposal to release free ranging bison in Banff National Park.
  • Presentation on the Steward's grassroots work at the Western Boreal Learning Network at Shekinah Retreat Center near Waldheim, SK.
  • The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, AB to be part of a panel discussing the various perspectives of Living With Bison. For more information, check out the Bison Belong website.
  • Burgos, Spain, including a meeting of representatives from circumboreal countries, a Landscape Symposium and the International Model Forest Network Global Forum.
  • Poster presentation at the American Bison Society Meeting on Bison Ecological Restoration in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
  • Canmore, AB, Sundre, AB and Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, AB to assist in establishing the Central Rockies Bison Stewards. More information and updates on the potential Banff Bison release can be found at the Bison Belong website.
